Review question

The aim is to review the outcomes and outcome measures reported in randomized controlled trials and their relationship with methodological quality, year of publication, commercial funding, and journal impact factor.

Searches

Sources searched include Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), Embase and MEDLINE from inception to April 2017.

Types of study to be included

Randomised controlled trials.

Condition or domain being studied

Pelvic organ prolapse.

Participants/population

Women.

Intervention(s), exposure(s)

Treatments for pelvic organ prolapse.

Comparator(s)/control

Different interventions.

Context

Primary outcome(s)

Review of reported outcomes, change of severity of prolapse symptoms, quality of life parameters etc.

Secondary outcome(s)

Relationship of outcomes and outcome measures with methodological quality, year of publication, commercial funding, and journal impact factor.

Data extraction (selection and coding)

Risk of bias (quality) assessment

For methodological quality: Jadad score; range, 1-5.

Strategy for data synthesis

We will use univariate and bivariate analyses with Spearman Rho and Mann-Whitney U tests.

Analysis of subgroups or subsets

We will use a multivariate linear regression model to assess relationship associations between outcome reporting quality and other variables.
